The Hands and Feet initiative is partnering with The Center to offer a 2018-2019 yearlong fellowship opportunity.

Fellows at The Center will work with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds, and learn about the challenges facing any congregation that is willing to take the risk of making a long-term commitment to affecting change in its neighborhood.

Hands and Feet Fellows will lead groups visiting The Center for mission experiences. Ahead of groups’ arrival, they will join the Executive Director and Program Coordinator in collaborative ministry, planning materials for worship, devotions and reflections, and evening programs. They will lead groups as they serve in the community, serve as a bridge between the visiting group and the local partner organization, and co-teach programs and bible studies that encourage participants to engage more deeply with the realities they encounter in the neighborhood where they’re serving.

The Center
The Center is a mission initiative of the Presbytery of Baltimore that hosts youth and adults from across the United States for a different kind of mission experience – one that allows them to volunteer beside members of our partner congregations and organizations, learn from local leaders, reflect theologically, and return home prepared to get involved in justice-making in their own communities. We pair volunteers with local congregations and service agencies to transform neighborhoods by engaging in the justice and reconciliation of Jesus Christ. Our church and nonprofit partners are at work year-round, building relationships with their neighbors, tending urban farms and gardens, coordinating after-school programs and summer camps, supporting neighbors experiencing food insecurity, and much more.

This fellowship runs from September 12, 2018 – August 15, 2019.
